About our Magnet Program

Fine Arts Program
All students at BMA participate in the Fine Arts Program focusing on enriching curriculum through instrumental music, theatre, visual art, physical education and dance education. Several after school enrichment opportunities involving the arts are also available. Students take part in Arts Expeditions yearly, attending live performances to deepen their appreciation of the arts.
Additionally, students integrate art into their core content classes and create beautiful artwork incorporating their grade level ELA, math, science and social studies standards.
Honors Program
Beaumont is Knox County’s only elementary school with an Honors Program (K–5). Students who qualify are placed in honors classes for core subjects. Instruction features:
-
Higher rigor and problem-based learning
-
Personalized support for advanced learners
-
Opportunities for independent projects and deeper study

How do I apply?
What happens after I apply?
A BMA staff member will contact you to offer testing for an honors program consideration. Students interested in the honors program must meet academic eligibility requirements to enter the lottery for an honors placement. Students not considering the honors program do not need to complete any testing. All students, regardless of academic placement, participate in BMA's arts programming. At the end of the application window, all applications are processed in the Magnet Office. Seats will be determined by a randomized computer drawing in the Transfer Office. Parents will be notified when seats have been assigned via mail in early April.
